Back Drew Magliozzi for his humanity and intelligence

More than 15 years ago, I met Drew Magliozzi through mutual friends. Drew had founded a successful education tech company. I learned a bit about his company and met a number of people from his team. Over the years, we ran into each other frequently. Many of our conversations involved social impact and how the personal relates to the political.

Fast forward a couple of years, I was delighted to know that Drew and Rya had moved to Concord. We ran into each other at a school picnic where our children ran around a dusty playground while we caught up. That led to backyard parties and meeting up in West Concord for community events.

I see in Drew a person who is prepared for embodied leadership, strongly grounded in his family and community life.

If you had none of this detail, you would be able to quickly discover that Drew is quite impressive on paper. He’s a Harvard alum, a successful entrepreneur. His most recent venture reached 20 million learners in 10 years and demonstrably improved college completion rates for tens of thousands of first-gen, low-income students. And I don’t think those are reasons alone to cast a vote. At least, it doesn’t meet my standard.

Drew meets my standard because he is eager to befriend strangers, quick to forgive, and hopeful. The skill, intelligence, and strategy side of Drew are very well developed, but his humanity is the reason I’m so grateful he is running. He has what it takes to be in public service and to tackle the challenges of this time. Drew Magliozzi is the best candidate for Concord School Committee. Please join me in voting for Drew.
