As a Concord resident and parent of a Concord-Carlisle High School graduate, I appreciate the importance of a good school system. Concord needs thoughtful leaders to understand that a strong relationship with the community that supports its schools is key to continued success.
For that reason I enthusiastically endorse Drew Magliozzi for School Committee.
Our School Committee should foster collaboration between the community and school administration to nurture a compassionate, inclusive student population reflective of the values of the town. As I have come to know Drew, whenever I mention a citizen or group that is engaged in our community, his first response is, “When can I meet them?” Drew’s genuine interest and curiosity about the experiences and perspectives of others is a gift. It is the mindset needed for an elected official who wants to represent all of us.
Drew understands that a diversity of perspectives means you can look at an issue all the way around and arrive at a comprehensive solution or policy. He also understands that you must continually measure those policies for effectiveness.
In his career, Drew led with care and persistence to advance the power of education in order to improve student outcomes by asking: How can we do better, and how can we measure what matters most? He will bring that experience to the School Committee and lead with respect, curiosity, and openness.
Every election brings opportunity for fresh perspectives. Drew is what committee membership should be: respectful, responsible, transparent, and ready to help address Concord’s challenges today and tomorrow.
